In a move to elevate the student learning experience through technology, Precious Cornerstone University (PCU) has partnered with Google Cloud Partner to deploy Google Workspace for Education on Campus and significantly upgrade its digital learning infrastructure.
This collaborative effort, facilitated by Google Cloud Partner I-World Networks, will bring several key advancements to PCU’s campus. According to the Working Agreement, these key advancements are highlighted below:
Enhanced Wi-Fi: Deployment of Wi-Fi 6 technology (Ruckus or Ubiquity Technology) access points throughout all buildings and classrooms will ensure reliable and high-speed wireless connectivity
Robust Network Backbone: A new campus fiber optic cable (OFC) network will provide dedicated backhaul to all relevant buildings, further improving network stability and performance
Uninterrupted Power for Network Infrastructure: A centralized backup power solution, incorporating both renewable and grid sources, will guarantee uninterrupted power supply for the entire network infrastructure
Access to Google Suite for Education: Students and faculty will gain access to a comprehensive suite of Google’s productivity and collaboration tools, including Gmail, Docs, Drive, Classroom and many more.
During a meeting with University Management and members of the PCU-ICT Committee, The Country Coordinator of Google for Education Programme, Mr. Jude Alawode, commended the University’s Management for their dedication to technological advancement. “We are impressed with how the university management embraced this change with confidence and eagerness,” he remarked.
The partnership extends beyond infrastructure upgrades as PCU staff will receive training opportunities to enhance their technological skills across all departments, fostering better use of technology in their daily work. Additionally, easy access to Google Education Suite will promote collaboration, efficiency, and improved academic outcomes for students.
The Registrar, Mrs. Morenike Afolabi, expressed PCU’s enthusiasm for the partnership. “On behalf of the University Management, we are pleased with this partnership and look forward to a successful working relationship,” she stated.
This collaboration between PCU and Google for Education signifies a significant step towards transforming the university’s digital learning landscape, ultimately benefiting students, faculty, and the institution as a whole.
